West March News #1
Dear West Families,
March is READING MONTH!! West will be celebrating Reading Month by participating in One School/One Book. This year’s book is Sea Otter Sunrise, A Magic Treehouse book by Mary Pope Osborne. Every few days students will answer trivia questions about the chapters they have read. Watch our West Connections Facebook page to get the links to teachers reading chapters from the book! A big shout out to the Holland Educational Foundation for sponsoring the purchase of the books for our West kiddos! Don’t forget to Save the Date for Thursday, March 12, 5-7pm, for our West Parent Reading Night.
Help support the Holland Educational Foundation by participating in the 2026 Holland Leprechaun Chase 5K. This is a fun opportunity to show support for HEF, and have some family fun! See the attached flyer for details.
As Spring Fever builds, we need help reminding our West students about school expectations. Please review our West POWER expectations with your child(ren). POWER stands for Pride, Own Your Actions, Wise Choices, Engaged, and Respect. Can your child(ren) explain how to have POWER in each school setting (bathroom, playground, cafeteria, etc.)?
As always, please contact our administrative team with any questions or concerns!
Warmly,
Chad Tolson, Principal
Jennifer Heinritz, Assistant Principal

Word of the Week
Each Monday, in the announcements, students are introduced to a new vocabulary word and given examples of how to use the word. Through the week, the announcements will sneak in the work as often as possible! This week’s word is CLASSIFY. Help your student(s) by talking about the word, using the word and encouraging your child to use the word.
