West March News #2
Dear West Families,
March is READING MONTH!! West is celebrating Reading Month by participating in One School/One Book. This year’s book is Sea Otter Sunrise, A Magic Treehouse book by Mary Pope Osborne, along with a reading schedule bookmark. Make sure to watch our West Connections Facebook page to get the links to teachers reading chapters from the book!
Our Parent Reading Night, Pizza and a Movie, is Thursday, the 12th. Please send back the bottom of THIS NOTE to reserve your free tickets. This year, we will be featuring Saving Dory! As students watch the movie, parents will have the chance to visit grade-level tables and learn more about reading with their children, and pick up a few free resources! Don’t miss this. It’s going to be a great night.
Thank you to everyone for supporting our new Drop-Off and Pick-Up routine. It will begin to move more swiftly as we all get used to it!! Remember to use the parking lot if you need to get out of your vehicle, and to pull as far forward as possible to drop-off or pick-up.
Help support the Holland Educational Foundation by participating in the 2026 Holland Leprechaun Chase 5K. This is a fun opportunity to show support for HEF, and have some family fun! See the attached flyer for details.
As Spring Fever builds, we need help reminding our West students about school expectations. Please review our West POWER expectations with your child(ren). POWER stands for Pride, Own Your Actions, Wise Choices, Engaged, and Respect. Can your child(ren) explain how to have POWER in each school setting (bathroom, playground, cafeteria, etc.)?
As always, please contact our administrative team with any questions or concerns!
Warmly,
Chad Tolson, Principal
Jennifer Heinritz, Assistant Principal

Word of the Week
Each Monday, in the announcements, students are introduced to a new vocabulary word and given examples of how to use the word. Through the week, the announcements will sneak in the work as often as possible! This week’s word is Category. Help your student(s) by talking about the word, using the word and encouraging your child to use the word.
