HHS Reaffirms Commitment to Learning with "No Phone Zones"
2024-2025 Cell Phone Policy
Holland High School is reinforcing its longstanding commitment to creating a focused and engaging learning environment by implementing "No Phone Zones" across campus. This policy is nearly identical to the existing "No Cell Bell to Bell" rule that has been in place for many years.
We appreciate the cooperation of students, parents, and staff in upholding these guidelines to ensure that our school remains a place where education and learning comes first. Research shows that cell phones cause distractions that impact academic performance, negatively affect mental health, and reduce social interaction, which can weaken relationships.
Holland High School has designated all academic wings and learning spaces as "No Phone Zones." These areas include:
Classrooms
Hallways
Offices
Bathrooms/Locker Rooms
Media Center
Key Guidelines for Students:
Students are allowed to carry their cell phones with them at school.
Students may use their cell phones before school, during lunch in The Commons, and after school.
Upon entering any hallway that leads out of the Commons, cell phones must be stored out of sight. This includes passing time.
If parents/guardians need to reach their students during the school day, they may call the school office at 494-2200.
Students can request to use a school phone in the office to contact their parents/guardians at any time.
Additionally, students are reminded that cell phones may not be used to photograph or video any student or staff member without their express consent or for an educational purpose.
This policy was informed by feedback from students, parents, and staff alike. Thank you for working together to ensure that Holland High School is the best place to learn and grow!
If you have any questions, please contact a member of the Administrative Team at 494-2200.
