You're Invited | Hispanic Heritage Month Community Celebration

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with HPS students on Friday, October 15 at the Hope College Football Stadium.

At Holland Public Schools we are wrapping up a month-long celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15). In our classrooms, students have been exposed Hispanic music, food, and history.  But more importantly, they’ve learned about the many ways Hispanic culture contributes to making Holland a better place to live, work, and learn.

On Friday, at the final home Varsity football game of the season, we are inviting the entire community to celebrate the culmination of Hispanic heritage Month with our students at the Ray & Sue Smith Stadium at Hope College.  Events begin at 6pm. A ticket to the football game will cost $5.

  • Food Trucks: We’ll support chicano-owned local businesses as several food trucks will sell Hispanic foods before and during the game.
  • Pregame Parade of Flags: We’ve picked 21 HPS students to represent their nation of origin in a Parade of Flags of Hispanic countries.
  • Halftime - Ballet Folklorico Sol Azteca: At halftime, several HPS students, in authentic Mexican costume, will perform for the community.
  • Holland High School Marching Band: Our award-winning student musicians will perform songs written by Santana during halftime.

I am excited for this opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate the beautiful culture and heritage of our Hispanic neighbors and to recognize the important contributions they make in our schools and communities.  I hope to see you there!
