Fall MAP Growth Benchmark Testing
Next week, all Holland High School students will take the fall NWEA MAP Growth assessments in Math and Reading. These assessments provide valuable insight into what students know, what they are ready to learn next, and the support they need to be successful. MAP Growth is our regular benchmark assessment, administered each fall, winter, and spring; it is not an additional standardized test.
When is testing?
MATH: Wednesday, September 9
READING: Thursday, September 10
Location: Students will test in their Advisory classes (after lunch)
It is extremely important that students are present and on time for both days of testing. If they miss one or both, they will be assigned to a make-up session the following week.
Why do we test?
MAP Growth assessments are a key part of our instructional planning. Results help teachers and school leaders:
Identify student strengths and areas for growth,
Plan academic interventions and supports,
Track progress and growth over time,
Set meaningful learning goals.
We test in Fall, Winter, and Spring, giving us three important checkpoints each year to monitor growth and adjust instruction and support.
Students will complete testing in a schedule that closely mirrors state assessments, preparing them for success on larger statewide exams.
How families can help
You play an important role in your student’s success. Here’s how you can help them be at their best on test days:
Send your student to school with a fully-charged Chromebook,
Make sure your student gets a good night’s sleep the night before,
Encourage them to eat a healthy breakfast before or at school,
Remind them to give their best effort—their results help shape the supports and opportunities they’ll receive all year.
