HMS Student of the Month - April

We're #HPSProud to recognize the following students for showing the DUTCH Expectations (Diverse, United, Thrive, Committed, Honorable) during the month of April.

  • Levi Castro-Slenk
  • Evie Joyce
  • Mati Maatman

Levi Castro-Slenk - 6th grade  (Nominated by Ms. Meyer)

Levi is committed to learning. He focuses on getting his work completed and seeks ways to extend his learning.  He is a great classmate and is willing to help others understand the material.  He is a positive role model for other students. He is always willing to take on a new challenge and seeks opportunities to share his learning with others.

Evie Joyce - 7th grade  (Nominated by Ms. Conley)

Evie is one of the nicest students I have had-every day. She is patient and will offer a hand if she sees I could use help. She not only helps me but she will offer her time to help new students, students who speak Spanish and students who may struggle in general with the project. She always puts forth excellent effort in class and she's a member of the student council. Evie shows all of the HMS traits every day. I think Evie deserves to be student of the month.

Mati Maatman - 8th grade (Nominated by Ms. Maday)

Mati demonstrates her commitment to academic excellence everyday in Spanish class. She has embraced the challenge of taking a class for high school credit with hard work and dedication. Mati always finds ways to help others who are struggling with the content. She is a leader in our class. Her kindness, work ethic, and positive outlook inspire others.  Mati Maatman is a friend to everyone. She embodies the very best of what makes HMS a special place to learn.
