West News-- February #1

Dear West Families,

Welcome to February! We LOVE all of the amazing things happening this month: Hot Chocolate Bar, Parent-Teacher Conferences, book fair, swimming lessons, Inclusion Week, Valentine Spirit Week and more!

The third round of swimming lessons at the Holland Aquatic Center began for some of our classes on Monday. Below are some suggestions to make swimming successful:

  • HAC provides all swimsuits and towels.

  • Wear easy on and off clothing like stretch pants, track pants or sweatpants, pull on shirts without buttons, crocs or slip on shoes.

  • Students with long hair should come to school with it braided or pulled into a ponytail. You may also want to send a brush for your student to use.

  • You may want to send a plastic grocery bag with extra socks and underwear just in case items get wet by mistake.

This week we will be reviewing the routine and expectations for the cafeteria. Help us enforce the expectations by viewing the video and talking with your student about them.

Hot Chocolate Bar

Thank you for all of the generous support we have received for the hot chocolate Bar. I am truly blessed to be at a school with such amazing community support!

This month, each West classroom has been challenged to collect 300 Power H tickets in order to earn a visit to a special hot Chocolate Bar on Friday, February 6. We are looking for volunteers to run the Hot chocolate Bar– Help pour the hot chocolate and add toppings of each students’ choice. Sign up HERE!

Inclusion Week

The week of Feb. 9-Feb. 13 we will be celebrating inclusivity at West, and through HPS, by having fun dress-up days. See below for the description of each day:

Monday: Rock Your Socks, wear crazy mismatched socks

Tuesday: Jersey Day/We are ALL a team, wear a jersey 

Wednesday: Dress Your Interest, wear a shirt that has something that you love on it

Thursday: Sensory Day, wear a soft sweatshirt, something glittery, etc.

Friday: School Spirit, wear red and white
