Spooktacular Parents Night
Pumpkins, bats and ghosts, Oh My!!! Don't miss this year's Spooktacular Parents Night on Thursday, October 30th, 5:45 PM-7:00 PM. This year, we will be featuring math content across our grade levels. Parents are invited to attend a grade-level session before our hallway Halloween Parade. Students may wear their fun, school-appropriate costumes! We still need candy donations to make this event a success. It would be greatly appreciated if you could send a bag or two of candy to your classroom teacher. Hope to see you there!
1st Annual West Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Our West pumpkin decorating contest has been a huge success! We have pumpkins ranging from Pete the Cat to Harry Potter! This week all students will get to vote on the best book character themed pumpkin from each grade level, as well as several fun categories, like BEST USE OF GLITTER! Thank you to all of our West families and our amazing PTO who made this event possible!
Attendance Update
Our October Attendance Incentive is in the last week!! The two classes with the highest attendance rate will earn a special Pumpkin Painting Party donated by Holland Farmers Market. Finish strong by coming to school each day this week!
POWER at West
Our first PBIS Reward is coming up in November! PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, and makes up the foundation for how we support students at West. This year, classes can earn a monthly celebration by collecting Power H tickets in their PBIS Jar. Power H tickets are awarded to students who are following the POWER expectations– Pride, Own Your Actions, Wise Choices, Engaged, and Respect. November’s PBIS Party is a Lego Party. Each classroom has to save 200 Power H tickets to earn the reward!!
Another way West students use the Power H Tickets that they collect is by visiting our Power H Store on Fridays. Our West Power H Store is stocked with a wide range of items that students can “purchase” with their saved tickets. Students LOVE visiting the store!! We are always looking for items for the store. Outdoor Clothing
Our crazy Michigan weather is in full effect! Please send your student(s) with everything they need to stay warm and dry when playing outside in the rain, snow and cold. It is also helpful to add in an extra pair of socks and a plastic grocery bag for wet feet and/or clothing. We always are in need of extra snow pants, boots and winter coats. If you have any items that your student(s) has outgrown, please consider donating them to West!
