20th Recipient of Teachers Live Here Grant Awarded
HPS is proud to award $29,000 in Teachers Live Here grants to Meghan Kelly! Along with $26,500 in down payment assistance, Kelly also received $2,500 to assist with closing costs because she is purchasing a home within the school district boundaries.
Here is an excerpt from Kelly's Teachers Live Here application essays:
When I think about living in the same community that I am serving, I think about the word pride. Deciding to live in Holland makes the statement that I am proud enough of this community to invest in it... Living in Holland and serving its community members will motivate me to help the community grow in ways that can allow every member to be proud of it. Since I moved here in July, I have developed a deep pride and passion for Holland. Now, I get to brag about the diverse community, the traditions, and the people of my community.
Since the program started in January 2023, 20 HPS educators have received a teachers Live Here grant thanks to an anonymous donation from a family in the City of Holland and the support of the Holland Educational Foundation. There are 5 grants remaining in the 2024-25 cycle which closes on June 30. When the 2025-26 cycle opens on July 1, there will be 10 grants available for the year.
