Unlock Your Potential at Holland Early College
Empowering Students Through Early College Experiences

Holland Early College, in collaboration with Davenport University and Hope College, is proud to offer an educational program that combines high school and college coursework in a supportive and challenging environment. Tuition, books, and fees are paid for by Holland Public Schools.
Our program is split into two phases, each designed to maximize student success.
Phase One: Building Foundations
In 9th and 10th grades, students at Holland Early College focus on laying a strong foundation in academic skills, confidence, and college readiness as they complete high school requirements. This period is essential for students to establish the habits and mindset needed for success in both high school and college-level courses.
Phase Two: The College Experience
Upon entering the second phase, which spans three years, students begin their college journey. Here, they can earn up to 60 college credits, equivalent to an Associate's Degree, along with their high school diploma. A key benefit of HEC is the direct transcripted college credit, in contrast to AP courses where credits are based on exam scores. Both paths offer significant academic value, catering to diverse student needs and post-secondary plans.
Academic Expectations and Eligibility:
To be eligible for the college-level courses in the program, students must meet specific academic standards. They must pass all high school classes and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA by the end of 10th grade. These criteria ensure that students are fully prepared and capable of handling the rigors of college coursework. Holland Early College is committed to helping students achieve these goals, providing resources and support to guide them along the way.
2024-2025 School Year Enrollment:
As we approach the 2024-2025 school year, we encourage ALL 9th and 10th graders to consider the Holland Early College program. This is an ideal time to start planning your academic future and to take advantage of the unique opportunities our program offers. Holland Early College is not just a pathway to college credits; it's a journey toward personal and academic growth.
Alumni Insights:
Our graduates often speak of the program's transformative impact. One alum stated, “I honestly have no idea what I would've done without this program. It's helped me discover myself and learn who I am as a person. I've learned responsibility, respect, and how motivation can really push you to do the best you can. I've learned that time management is everything, as well as the support of the people who care about you. I thank the people who were able to make my college education possible. Because of them, I know who I am, what I want to do with my life, and the kind of person I want to be in the future.”
Another graduate reflected, “I'd like to express my gratitude to the Early College program for providing me with this education. It was a stressful few years, but now I realize how much money I saved and how many credits I've earned. It was a unique experience and I hope other kids can take advantage of this opportunity.”
