With school district offering free meals to all students across the State of Michigan, to have an application on file would still be helpful in the following areas. School meals applications help our school district allocate vital funding and resources to schools. Schools rely on the count of the number of eligible students from those applications (submitted by Oct. 1, the state’s official “count day”) in order to get extra state and federal money for “at-risk” children. School meals applications also grant your child access to other benefits, such as
- Pandemic EBT (P-EBT)
- Waived college application fees.
- Waived after-school program fees.
- Waived athletics fees.
- Access to specialized tutoring programs.
- Lower internet costs.
- Waived transportation fees for families to specialized bilingual schools.
- Waived fees to take the ATC, SAT and Advanced Placement exams.
It remains crucial to ensuring that students and their families are able to access these key benefits and for this to happen we encourage families to submit applications.
Every student in the district will benefit from all families completing the application for Free & Reduced Price School Meals.
