Hello West Families,
Happy Spring to the wonderful West Family! I can’t believe we are nearing the end of the school year. Please take the time to register your child for next school year using this link. It is very important for our planning that you register your child ASAP! There are still spots available to sign your student up for free summer school. Please use this link.
Tomorrow is Field Day! Please remember to send your child to school in comfortable clothing and shoes. You may want to consider applying sunscreen before school. The children will be outside for about 2 hours. Also, please make sure your student has a water bottle so that they stay hydrated! So many fun activities and field trips for the students in the final weeks of school.
I am honored for the opportunity to lead West and be a part of this amazing school community. Please reach out to me if you have any needs or concerns pertaining to your students' experience at West.

Summer School Registration, Programs and Dates
Register for Summer school here.
Summer School Programs: MONDAY -THURSDAY -8am-12:30pm
Incoming TK-K students | July 10-August 3 : Ready for School at West.
Kindergarten - 4th grade students | June 19-August 3:
Kindergarten program will be located at Little Hawks Discovery Pre-School
Grade 1-4 students will be located at West
4th and 5th grade | July 10-14 or July 24-28: Summer Engineering Program at Hope
5th-7th Grade | June 19-August 3: Focus on ELA and Math at West
Current 8th grade | July 10-August 3: Located at Holland High School
9th-11th grade | June 19-August 3: Credit recovery program at Holland High School. Sign up by May 26. Because seats are limited, priority will be given to those closest to graduation and with good attendance as daily attendance is required.
DHH-Language Acquisition | July 11-Aug 3: Tuesdays/Thursdays-half day and Wednesdays full day experience(T/W/T) at West
ESY (Extended School Year)-needs based on IEP team decision | July 10-August 3: services will vary at West and HHS.
Summer Reading Program
Excited West students will be on the lookout for book packages in the mail this summer!
Our school values summer reading. West students (K-5) are selecting eight books in class to be delivered to your door throughout the summer! A big thank you to Mr. Dykert for helping with this program!
ART!
Show Families,
The art show will only be accessed using the D wing doors which are nearest the gallery, off the administration parking lot (corner of VanRaalte and 24th) will be unlocked for our guests to access between the hours of 3-8pm starting May 15-May 26. West students all have art in the black light art room, a storage closet off the art gallery. There is a sign on the door to the black light art room. There are West students who also have art in the gallery that was sent home by invitation. Email Mrs. Jacobusse-Art with any questions: jjacobus@hollandpublicschools.org
PTO Update
Hello West Families! The PTO would like to thank all of this year’s volunteers and donors for their amazing support this year. We couldn’t have done it without you all! With your support, we were able to provide classroom cash, field trip money, popcorn Fridays, Winter Carnival, two book fairs, teacher appreciation and so much more. We are already in the planning stages for next year and will continue to meet throughout the summer. If you would like to be involved, please email HollandWestPTO@gmail.com. Thank you!

West will be hosting their second annual Summer Resource Fair on Tuesday, May 30th from dismissal to 5:30 pm in the West Gym! We will have snacks, fun activities and community partners! This is a time to celebrate the end of the year with all our West Families!
