HHS Theatre Students Earn High Ratings at State Theater Competition

Students receive EXCELLENT and SUPERIOR ratings at Thespy Awards.

This past week at the Holland high school theater students participated at the state Thespian Festival.

Congratulations to the following students who participated in the Thespy Competition. 

  • Adia Carpenter and Cari Souder received excellent ratings for their monologue performances. 
  • Holle Lo received an excellent rating for her scenic design. 
  • Cora VanFaasen received an excellent rating for her costume design. 
  • Kayla Robinson received an excellent rating for her solo musical theatre dance performance. 
  • Diego Felix-Tejo received an excellent rating for his solo musical theatre song performance. 
  • Anya Wolters received the highest rating of superior for for her solo musical theater dance performance.
  • Julia Porretta received the highest rating of superior for her solo musical theater song performance.  Julia also qualified to compete at the national thespian festival. 
  • Diego Felix-Trejo and Holle Lo also auditioned for college scholarships and received a combined total of $362,000. 

This is the first year that Holland High School thespians have participated at the state festival. I am so proud of these students, not just because that had outstanding performances, but because they represented HHS as a school there to learn, meet people and soak in the entire experience. Thank you so much for allowing us this opportunity.
