COVID-19 Send Home/Stay Home Scenarios

Scenraios: Who MUST stay home or will be sent home?

Scenario 1:  Symptoms

You must STAY HOME or will be SENT HOME if you have the COVID-19 symptoms shown below:

ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Cough
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Loss of Taste and Smell
  • Confusion or Change in Mental Status
  • Persistent Pain or Pressure in the Chest
  • Pale, Gray, or Blue-Colored Skin, Lips or Nail Beds, Depending on Skin Tone
  • Inability to Wake or Stay Awake

ANY TWO OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Fever of 100.4 or higher or feeling feverish
  • Chills
  • Rigors
  • Muscle Aches
  • Sore Throat
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • Congestion or Runny Nose
  • Headache
  • Fatigue

What do you do if you have any of the one or two  symptoms above?

Please refer to your Healthcare Provider (HCP) for Medical Clearance ~OR~ Get tested for COVID-19 .  If you receive a letter from your HCP or if the LAB/PCR COVID test is negative and symptoms have improved, you may return to school.   Please make sure to bring the LAB results of the NEGATIVE COVID-19 test back to school upon your return OR 

Stay home for 10 days since symptoms first appeared or until recovered (whichever is LONGER).


Scenario 2:  Symptoms and Awaiting COVID-19 Test Results:

You must STAY HOME or will be SENT HOME if you had COVID-19 symptoms and are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test.  

If you use a home or non LAB/PCR test and your results are:

  • positive, follow the steps in scenario 3 below.  
  • negative you MUST get a full LAB/PCR test to confirm the negative results.  

Do not return to school until you have a NEGATIVE LAB/PCR COVID-19 test results and you have been symptom free for 24 hours.  We are not allowed to accept a NEGATIVE RAPID COVID test result.  


Scenario 3:  Symptoms and Test Positive

If you test POSITIVE you must STAY HOME at least 10 days since symptoms first appeared AND at least 24 hour with no fever without fever reducing medication AND symptoms have improved.  


Scenario 4:  Close Contact WITHIN YOUR HOME or a SCHOOL OUTBREAK even if symptom-free

You must STAY HOME or will be SENT HOME if you had close contact (within 6 feet for a cumulative of 15 minutes) with a COVID-19 positive person within your home or as part of a school outbreak  if unvaccinated.  

What do you do if you have close contact?  

  • Self-quarantine for 10 days from the last known exposure, or until recovered, whichever is longer.  
  • Notify your child’s school of this close contact and his/her absence.
