S.H.O.R.E. School Clean-up: Members of SHORE club, remember to meet in Mrs. Benson's room after school this Thursday, October 29, for the school clean up.

FuturePrep Programs: Are you looking for opportunities to learn about the professional world?  Do you want to earn 3 free transferable college credits?  Do you like to solve challenges?  The futurePREP'd Academy Program would be a good fit for you!  Students (9th-12th grade) will virtually immerse themselves in two different businesses with a team of other students from around the Ottawa Area to solve a real challenge that the business is facing.  Along with this, students will have the opportunity to earn free transferable college credit and develop a career portfolio. If you are interested in this opportunity, please email ngitler@oaisd.org.

Senior Yearbook Quotes: Hey Seniors! If you want to have a senior quote in the yearbook, email kyho764@hps21.org and we'll put it in. Please make sure it is school appropriate and not too long. Thanks!

Sports Awards: Any athlete who did not receive their end of the season awards from last school years' winter and spring season.  Please stop in the Athletic Office to pick them up.

Senior Yearbook Pictures: Seniors!! Your senior photos are due on November 3rd. Please send them to this year’s senior editor ASAP. Her email is mekaeb8@hps21.org. If you need senior photos taken, please feel free to email her, and she can set something up. If you have any more questions, let her know. Thank you!!!

PSAT and SAT Retesting: There are no make- ups offered for the PSAT. The SAT make-up day is October 27th.  All 12th grade students who missed the test the first time must test on this day.


Sports News

Women’s Cross Country: The Lady Dutch traveled to crosstown rival West Ottawa on a cold crisp October 24th Saturday to race in Pre Regional 5-1. Racing in one of the top three most competitive Pre Regionals in the state, the Lady Dutch placed 9th. Senior Olivia DeGraaf, 21:10.7, led the way for Holland, placing 27th overall, missing a qualifying stop for the Regionals by two places. Junior Julia Kooyer, 21:50.3, placed 41st overall while finishing second for Holland. Junior Brisa Sanchez-Valdez, 22:49.2, placed 52nd overall, just missing a season PR. Senior Alexis Barajas, 23:43.77, placed 56th overall and was Holland's fourth finisher. Freshman Rylee Boersen, 25:04.42, placed 60th and was the fifth scorer for Holland. Freshman Abby Wilson, 25:16.87 and Kaydence Vespers, 26:54.17 placed 61st and 62nd respectively. This race closes out the Varsity season for the Lady Dutch. Thank you to our fans, family, and trainer Sara Kinser for your support throughout the season. We look forward to seeing you in the Spring for Track & Field. Go, Dutch! 

 

Men’s Cross Country: The Dutch traveled to crosstown rival West Ottawa on a cold crisp fall morning to compete in Pre Regional 5-1 on Saturday October 24th. On a course heavy with this week's rain and in one of the top three Pre Regionals in the state, the Dutch managed a 6th place finish. Leading the way for the Dutch and qualifying for the Regionals, Sophomore Adrian Castillo, 16:49.04, finished 11th overall with a season PR. Junior Hunter Tripp, 17:24.28, finished 22nd overall and missed qualifying for Regionals by one place. Sophomore Dylan Chmura, 26.93, placed 24th overall, and missed qualifying for Regionals by two places. Senior Noah Whiteman, 18:15.31, placed 44th overall with a season PR. Sophomore Brayden Snyder, 18:23.75, placed 45th and was Holland's fifth scorer. Sophomore Jack Voss, 18:30.54, running in only his second championship race placed 49th. Freshman Noah Lambers, 18:42.92, running in his first championship raced to 54th place and was the second freshman overall. Thank you for the support of the team this year. We look forward to seeing our fans and supporters in the Spring during Track and Field season.
