Dates and times of conferences:
Tuesday, October 13 4:15-7:15pm
Wednesday, October 21 3:30-6:30pm
Thursday, October 22 12:30-3:30pm
The Free Book Fair will be returning during parent/teacher conferences! Visit the media center on Wednesday, October 21 or Thursday, October 22 to check it out! The PTO is accepting donations of gently used books to put in the free book fair. Drop books off by Friday, October 16 in the donation box inside the main office.
Our second annual West Pumpkin Decorating Contest will begin the first week of fall conferences! This year’s theme is Favorite Family Friendly Movie or TV Character. Pumpkins need to be decorated at home and brought to school by an adult during fall conference times– Oct. 13, Oct. 21 and Oct. 22. Please remember that pumpkins can be decorated with paint, recycled materials, craft supplies or anything else that makes the best Movie or TV character pumpkin, BUT NO CARVING!! Students will vote on their favorite pumpkins the week of October 26th, and winners will be announced at our West Spooktacular, Thursday, Oct. 29. Categories that will be judged are Best Themed Pumpkin (one per grade), Best Use of Glitter, Best Use of Recycled Materials, Most Likely to Make You Smile, and Most Unexpected Materials Used.
West students met our September Attendance Goal, which was at least 12 school days with 94% attendance for our whole school. Way to go West students and families! We know that when we set positive school attendance at the start of the year, it helps us to keep coming to school ready to learn all year long!
For October, we will be having a competition for our kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms to have the best attendance. Each day a classroom has the best attendance in either kindergarten through 2nd grade or 3rd through 5th grade, their class will earn a pumpkin on our bulletin board. The two classrooms that have the most pumpkins on the bulletin board at the end of the month, wins! There will be a winning class for each kindergarten through 2nd grade and 3rd through 5th and we'll celebrate with a pumpkin painting party on Friday, October 30.
Bonus: any time a class has 100% attendance, their class automatically earns a pumpkin! So far we have had at least 2 classes with 100% attendance each day of October so far, wow! Thank you for partnering with us to help students to be here and be learning!
This Week’s PBIS Focus Lesson is all about the end of the school day! Help your student have POWER in the morning by watching today’s morning announcements!
West students begin each morning by watching and interacting with our virtual Daily Announcements. The announcements include jokes, celebrations, important information and more! Follow our Daily Announcements HERE.
