First Activity Night- October 30th

The HMS Student Council will be hosting the first after school activity night for the year on Oct. 30th from 2:42-4:30.  Wristband tickets for the activity night will be sold on October 30th at all lunch periods for $5.00.  Tickets must be purchased at lunch in advance of the event, tickets will not be sold at the door.  The ticket price covers the cost of all of the activities available including dancing with a live DJ, two different game rooms and an open gym.  There will also be food available for an additional cost.  We are looking for some donations and chaperones.  Please sign up for these items using this link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0A44AEAB2BABFB6-66209466-activity

Costumes will be allowed for this event.  The costumes may not be worn to school so they have to be the type of costume that a student can change into after school.  Costumes that can be worn over clothing are the best because we anticipate a long line to use the changing rooms.  Here are the costume rules…

Rules for Costumes-

1. Costumes may only be worn after school hours.  Students will be given time to change into costumes in shifts so there is not crowding in the restrooms.

2. School rules regarding dress code must be followed:  No swimsuits, no underwear showing etc..  Nothing that promotes the use of illegal substances or activities or are derogatory, disrespectful or depict weapons.  

3. Hoods may be worn as part of costume, this evening only  

4. No applying colored hairspray at school

5.  No masks or weapons (nunchucks/sickles/swords/knives/guns, etc).

6. Students or parents who have questions about the acceptability of their costume should check with the school before sending it in with their child.

7. Students wearing inappropriate costumes will need to call home to have a change of clothes brought up to them. 

Grades-
Half way through the quarter is this Friday!  Just a reminder to check Parent Portal to see where your students are at with their grades.  Weekly, student check their grades and make a list of anything that is missing.  Email specific teachers if you have questions.  

HHS Football Games- 
This is a reminder that ALL Middle School Students need an adult with them at the football games.  This is a responsible adult who will monitor their behavior and will be responsible to take the student home, should they be injured or asked to leave.  We are having a lot of students dropped off, then trying to find an adult to go in with.  For future games, they will be sent home.  Thank you for your help in making these games safe and enjoyable! 

HHS Hosts Family Session on Teen Mental Health in the Social Media Age

Attendance Matters! Regular attendance is an important part of your student’s success. Missing more than 10% of school days can make it more difficult for students to keep up academically and may increase their risk of struggling in high school and beyond.

Parents and guardians can help by:

• Helping your student develop a consistent morning “get ready” routine.

• Having a Plan B for transportation in case your student misses the bus.

• If your student is sick, please call the school to let us know.

• When possible, provide a doctor’s note so the absence can be excused.
