Welcome Back to School Message from Superintendent Cassidy

Welcome to another exciting school year at Holland Public Schools!

The beginning of a new school year is always filled with hope, anticipation, and the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of our students.

Whether you are returning to HPS or joining our district for the first time, we are grateful you are part of our school community.

This year's theme is Committed.

Committed is more than a theme; it is a promise. It represents our unwavering dedication to our students, our families, our staff, and the Holland community. Every decision we make is guided by our commitment to preparing every student for success in school, in their future careers, and in life.

  • We are committed to providing state-of-the-art instructional spaces where students can learn, collaborate, and thrive. Throughout the district, you will see exciting construction projects that are transforming our schools into modern learning environments designed to support the needs of today's learners and tomorrow's workforce. These improvements are possible because of the incredible support of the Holland community through the 2021 and 2025 bond initiatives. Your investment is creating opportunities that will benefit generations of students, and for that, we are truly grateful.
  • We are committed to providing relevant and engaging learning experiences that prepare students for whatever path they choose after graduation. Whether that path leads to college, military service, skilled trades, or directly into the workforce, our responsibility is to ensure every student leaves Holland Public Schools with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed. This year, we are excited to expand our partnership with the West Coast Chamber of Commerce to strengthen connections between our schools and local employers, helping students explore career pathways, build meaningful relationships, and better understand the opportunities that exist right here in our community.
  • We are committed to ensuring technology enhances learning without replacing the relationships, critical thinking, and human interaction that are essential to a great education. Technology is an important tool for preparing students for the future, but it should be used intentionally and purposefully to support instruction—not distract from it. We will continue to evaluate and refine how we use technology in our classrooms, creating more opportunities for collaboration, creativity, discussion, and hands-on learning while teaching students to use technology responsibly and effectively. Our commitment is to use technology as it was intended: as a tool that empowers learning while keeping students engaged with their teachers, classmates, and the world around them.
  • We are committed to ensuring every student finds a place to belong beyond the classroom. We know students are more successful when they are connected to their school community. Whether through athletics, performing arts, student leadership, academic competitions, service organizations, or one of our many clubs and activities, we will continue working to ensure every student has an opportunity to discover their passions, build relationships, and experience the sense of belonging that comes from being involved.
  • We are committed to attracting, developing, and retaining the very best educators and staff. The greatest resource in any school district is its people. Every day, our teachers, support staff, administrators, and volunteers make an incredible difference in the lives of our students. We will continue investing in our staff so they have the tools, training, and support necessary to provide an exceptional educational experience for every child.

As we begin this new school year, I am reminded that none of this work happens alone. The success of Holland Public Schools is built on the partnership between our students, families, staff, and the greater Holland community. Together, we are creating schools where every student is known, challenged, supported, and inspired to achieve their dreams.

Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and commitment to Holland Public Schools. I look forward to all we will accomplish together this year.

Here's to an outstanding school year!

Go Dutch!
