HPS Teachers Travel to Ron Clark Academy
Holland Public Schools staff are getting ready for the school year ahead. This July, 43 teachers from around the district took that commitment a step further.
Thanks to a generous sponsorship from Huntington Bank, our team traveled to Atlanta to visit the Ron Clark Academy, a school celebrated worldwide for the way it builds belonging, culture, and joy into every part of the student experience.
The Ron Clark Academy started with one educator's vision: turning a run-down warehouse in inner-city Atlanta into a place where students feel valued, challenged, and known. That transformation began not with test scores or curriculum, but with relationships — with students, families, and the surrounding community. Our staff spent the visit soaking up those lessons, alongside Huntington Bank's team, who welcomed them at the airport and stayed by their side the whole trip, cheering them on.
Our staff came home energized and full of new ideas for building the same kind of culture here in Holland — because when kids feel like they belong, everything else becomes possible. We're proud of our team for spending part of their summer growing so they can show up even stronger for our students this fall.
