2026 Seals of Biliteracy

The Michigan Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by school districts in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. 

In 2026, HPS recognized 22 students, with 24 Seals of Biliteracy in 5 assessed languages:

Since the program started at HHS in 2018, 113 students have earned 119 Seals of Biliteracy in 15 different languages

Students who earn the MI-SoBL meet the following criteria:

  • Meet graduation requirements
  • Demonstrate Intermediate High Proficiency on world language assessments

The Seal of Biliteracy encourages students to pursue biliteracy, honors the skills our students attain, and can be evidence of skills that are attractive to future employers and college admissions offices.
