Course Planning Letter and Guide 2026-2027

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Holland High School Counseling Department is pleased to announce the beginning of our course planning activities, in the Multi Year Academic Planning tool, within Infinite Campus.  This feature will allow your student to build a roadmap to and through the high school graduation requirements.  The Multi Year Academic Planning tool captures the work students have completed and offers recommendations for next and most appropriate courses in any core content sequence.  This tool allows future plans to change while maintaining the integrity of plans in action.  It is the hope of the Counseling Department that with the introduction of this tool, parents feel more engaged in the course planning process, and have a better understanding of all the possibilities for meeting the Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements as well as requirements for earning a Holland High School diploma. Some of the features include:

  • 4 year academic planning

  • Postsecondary planning

  • Online Parent Approval

Please note- if your child is choosing to attend Holland Early College, please choose courses with “HEC” after the course name.  For example EN100HEC - English 1A or MA201HEC - Geometry A

For middle school families, counselors from Holland High School will be at Holland Middle School presenting in their classes during the week of February 16, 2026.  Middle School Students will be able to make changes to their course plans until 3:00 PM on March 20, 2026.

For high school families, the online planning window will open on February 16, 2026, your students will work in core classes to select courses.  Counselors will then start meeting with students individually and in small groups starting  February 23, 2026.  Current high school students will be able to make changes to their course plans until 3:00 PM on March 20, 2026.

It is our hope that you will be an integral part of this process. You and your student will be able to access the Infinite Campus Portal via the Holland High Schools’ website to begin your child’s course planning. Students will receive instructions and other valuable planning information during their Advisory classes. The Course Guide can be found HERE should you need information about class offerings.

Parents are asked to discuss course plans with their students. Our master schedule is built and driven by initial course selections. Selecting appropriate courses on the initial course plan is extremely important. After the scheduling process is completed, changes are discouraged and will be based on the following criteria: to correct deficiencies, to correct placement errors, and to ensure enrollment in classes required for graduation.

If you are involved in assisting your student in selections, please keep the following in mind:

  • Classes that have an A and a B section should both be selected (i.e. English A, English B).

  • If your child is choosing to attend Holland Early College, please choose courses with  “HEC” after the course name.  For example EN100HEC - English 1A or MA201HEC - Geometry A

  • All music students please select the course in which you are currently enrolled. Course selections will be adjusted after auditions.

  • Remember to check prerequisites in the course guide before making a selection.

  • Remember Advanced Placement and music performance courses are year-long commitments and may have summer requirements.  Select these courses with certainty; this requires a high level of commitment

  • Please remember that these course plans are requests, NOT guarantees.

  • Please remember to save changes before logging out of Portal.
