Class of 2026 Senior Events Winter Update

Dear Seniors and Families,

As we move through the winter season, graduation is quickly coming into view! This is an exciting and meaningful time for our seniors, and we’re looking forward to celebrating all they’ve accomplished. In this update, you’ll find important dates and key information to help you stay organized and on track as we head into the final stretch. If questions come up or support is needed, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re proud of our seniors and can’t wait to celebrate this milestone together.

SNOWCOMING DANCE- Saturday, January 31, 2026, 8:00–11:00 PM at the Holland Civic Center. 

  • Tickets are $15 for HHS students and $20 for non-HHS guests, available at hhsdances.ludus.com or in the SSO; sales close at 3:15 PM on Friday, January 30.

  • Guest Passes: All non-HHS guests must submit a completed Guest Pass to the SSO by 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28.

SENIOR PHOTO- Wednesday, March 11 (10:30 AM)

  • Report to Advisory. After Silent Reading, head to the Dome.

IN-PERSON SENIOR CLASS MEETING -  Location:  Performing Arts Center.  Attendance is required. 
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15  7:45 AM-11:50 AM (No School for Seniors on Thursday, April 16)

  • Senior Meeting with Mrs. Salazar and Mrs. Mehall - 8:00 AM

  • Emergency Response Training- 9:15 AM

    • Essential safety strategies for urgent situations, hosted by Ofc. Hamburg. 

  • Community Resources After High School with Mr. Mouw, Community Coordinator-  10:45 AM

JOSTENS DELIVERY- Friday, April 17 (Both Lunches)

  • Contact Jostens to pay your balance or with any questions about your order.

MORTARBOARD DECORATIONS 
Seniors may decorate the mortarboards on their graduation caps, with permission. A link will be sent to students detailing decoration instruction and a way to submit their designs by April 13.  HEC seniors may reuse their cap and gowns at Davenport commencement.  Seniors are encouraged to decorate cardstock to apply to the top of their mortarboards. The deadline to submit mortarboard decorations is Monday, May 4. Submissions will be reviewed on May 6.

PROM- Friday, April 24 at BOATWERKS BANQUET CENTER  8:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Save the date!  Tickets will be on sale soon, and can be purchased in the SSO or online at hhs dances.ludus.com. Guest pass applications can be picked up in the Student Success Office and are due no later than Tuesday, April 21 at 3:00 PM. Ticket sales will end on April 23. 

SENIORS’ LAST DAY - TUESDAY, MAY 12 - The following events comprise the day’s agenda.  Details coming soon:  

  • Chromebook/Charger collection (unless needed for exams), beginning at 7:30 AM- PAC Lobby

  • Senior signing event in the PAC

  • Walk the halls of the elementary buildings in caps and gowns

  • Lunch

  • Senior Assembly 

SENIOR EXAMS - This only applies to Seniors needing to take exams. 

  • Seniors earning a B- or better in their classes are exempt from taking final exams. 

  • All final assessments will be administered IN CLASS by Monday, May 11. 

  • Senior grades will be finalized by 3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 12 for Commencement.

  • Students not earning a passing grade by May 12 at 3 PM may continue to work until June 4th. Students may attend in person or complete work from home and submit electronically.

SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT - Attendance is optional - Sunday, May 17, 6:00 PM, Performing Arts Center

Students who are receiving awards will receive an invitation, and all other graduates are welcome, but not required to attend. Students and families will enjoy a dessert reception after the event. Semi-formal attire for students  is preferred.  Attendance is strongly encouraged for award recipients.

COMMENCEMENT REHEARSAL - REQUIRED - TUESDAY, MAY 19 AT 12:30 PM, DeVOS FIELDHOUSE, HOPE COLLEGE

All graduating Seniors must attend graduation rehearsal on Tuesday, May 19 at 12:30 PM at DeVos Fieldhouse on the campus of Hope College. Failure to participate in rehearsal will disqualify you from participating in the evening commencement ceremony. 

COMMENCEMENT - TUESDAY, MAY 19 AT 7:00 PM, DeVOS FIELDHOUSE, HOPE COLLEGE, 222 Fairbanks Ave, Holland, MI 

  • Seniors must arrive at the West end of the Fieldhouse no later than 6:15 PM.

  • Seniors must wear caps, gowns, tassels, and stoles.  Students must wear clothing under their gowns that is reflective of the formality of the ceremony.  No flip flops, shorts, etc.

  • There is no ticketing system for Commencement guests. There is no limit on the number of family and friends a graduate may invite. 

  • Do not bring balloon bouquets or any other item that would obstruct the view of those around you.

COMMENCEMENT FLOWERS

A pre-order link will be available soon. Flowers will also be available for purchase at DeVos Fieldhouse prior to the start of the Commencement Ceremony.

ATHLETIC- Monday, June 1 (6:30-7:30 PM), Performing Arts Center
The evening will honor All-Conference athletes, Power H recipients, Scholar Athletes, State Qualifiers, Athletes of the Year, and more. Athletes who are receiving awards will receive an invitation, all others are encouraged to attend.
