It's Flu Season and the Holland Hospital School Nurses have some important notes on the Flu.
What is the flu/influenza?
- The flu/influenza is a respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. Symptoms include: fever, cough, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, body aches, headache, fatigue and sometimes nausea and vomiting.
What are flu/influenza shots?
- Flu shots are an essential way to protect yourself from the flu/influenza.
Who should get a flu/influenza shot?
- The CDC recommends that anyone over 6 months of age get a flu shot each year.
Why should you get a flu/influenza shot?
- You should get a flu shot to reduce the risk of getting sick with the flu. It also helps protect against severe illness, hospitalization and death, and to help prevent the spread of the flu to others. They are also safe and effective with mild side effects.
Where can I get a flu/influenza shot?
