HMS Behavior Contract

All students will sign the behavior contract at the beginning of their year.  This is to help ensure all are aware of the rules and regulations that are in place to create a safe, predictable, and an educational setting.

Technology Safety & Use

CHROMEBOOKS

I understand that students cannot use their school device with their own personal log in

I understand that my computer is owned by Holland Public Schools and can be searched at any time.

I understand that I may not apply stickers onto or damage my Chromebook.

I understand I cannot use my computer for the following: 

  • Harassment

  • Tampering with the computer, such as removing keyboard keys.

  • Hacking

  • Plagiarism

  • Personal Attacks

  • Attempting to Bypass Security

  • Inappropriate Web Content- Examples

    • Blocked Sites

    • Computer Games (unless allowed by a teacher) 

    • Chatting Apps

    • Unauthorized Chrome Extensions


I understand that I am NOT allowed to give my username and password to any other student.  If I do and tech violations have occurred, I will be liable (in trouble).

I understand that my school and guardians can monitor my computer use, and a system can alert them when any of these policies are violated.  

I understand the consequences in place if I do not follow the technology protocols.  

1st Offense: WARNING & Review of tech policy 7540.03

2nd Offense: ½ day of RTC

3rd Offense: 1 day of RTC

4th Offense: 1 day of OSS

Subsequent Offenses: Subject to OSS beyond 1 day

CELL PHONES

I understand that any personal devices, cell phones, smart watches, etc. are turned off and put away from 7:30-2:42.  Failure to do so can result in removal and parent pick up of the device and/or school discipline.

3rd Offense: 1 day of RTC

4th Offense: 1 day of OSS

Subsequent Offenses: Subject to OSS beyond 1 day

Classroom Behavior

TARDIES

I agree to arrive to class on time

I understand that failure to do so will mean the following discipline: 

5+  Tardies:  Warning & Reteach

10+Tardies:  Behavior Referral, 1 Day Lunch/Recess Detention & Policy Reteach

15+ Tardies: Behavior Referral, 1/2 day RTC & Parent Meeting

20+ Tardies: Behavior Referral, 1 day RTC & Lunch/Recess in RTC for remainder of quarter

25+ Tardies: Behavior Referral, 1 Day OSS for Persistent Disobedience- Removal from after school activities, sports, and clubs for the remainder of the quarter.  


CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR

  • Respect my teachers, classmates, and myself by listening, participating, and following directions.

  • Use appropriate language at all times.

  • Keep my hands, feet, and objects to myself. NO PLAY FIGHTING AT SCHOOL.

  • Follow all classroom and school rules without disrupting learning.

  • No eating in class- unless otherwise specified from the teacher.

I understand that failure to follow the above rules can result in RTC, detention, or suspension

DRESS CODE

I agree to:

  • Wear clothing that is appropriate, clean, and not disruptive to the learning environment.

  • Avoid clothing with offensive or inappropriate images, words, or messages (including drugs, alcohol, violence, or hate speech).
    Wear tops and bottoms that fully cover undergarments and private areas when standing, sitting, or moving.

  • Follow specific school guidelines on no hoods
    Understand that if I violate the dress code, I may be asked to change or call home for appropriate clothing.                

FIGHTING AND PHYSICAL AGGRESSION

I agree to:

  • Solve problems peacefully and ask for help from an adult when needed.

  • Never start or participate in fights, including hitting, pushing, or threatening others.

  • Walk away from situations that could lead to physical conflict and seek help instead.

      • Talk to a teacher

      • RTC- Mr.

      • Assistant Principal: Mr. Kreps

      • Dean of Students: Mr. Harris

DRUGS, MEDICINE, ALCOHOL, VAPES, AND TOBACCO

I agree to:

  • Never bring, use, or be under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco (including vapes) at school or school events. 

  • Taking or holding for someone puts you in possession.

  • Report to a trusted adult if I see or hear about dangerous substances on school grounds.

  • Medications, like Tylenol, Midol, cough medicines, are not permitted at school.  They must be given by the nurse or by your guardian.  You may not have them on you.  

  • Understand that bringing or using these substances can result in serious consequences, including suspension or expulsion.
