March is Reading Month, let’s get reading!
As we begin the third week of March, there is still plenty of time for students to complete their Reading Month Bingo cards. Every student received a bingo card, and completed cards should be returned to classroom teachers by Monday, March 30th. Each activity represents at least 30 minutes of reading, which is the recommended daily amount for students. We encourage families to support their children by reading together and marking off the experiences on the bingo card as they are completed.
We are working hard during the school day to help students stay focused and meet their academic goals, and we truly appreciate your partnership in reinforcing learning at home.
Boys & Girls Club
Please plan accordingly, Boys & Girls Club will be closed on Thursday, March 19 .
Dress like you Favorite Book Character- Tuesday, March 31
We invite you to engage in a family activity with your child as you prepare for Dress Like Your Favorite Book Character Day on Tuesday, March 31st. Take some time to look through books together and bring those beloved characters to life while planning your child’s outfit. You have plenty of time to get creative and join in the fun!
Market Day is Coming - This week Thursday!
Our 4th grade students are excited to host Market Day, a hands-on learning experience that teaches entrepreneurship in a fun and grade-appropriate way. As part of this project, students have created handmade items that they will be selling on Thursday, March 19th.
All students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will have the opportunity to visit the market and support our young HLA entrepreneurs. Items will range in price from $1–$6.
If your child would like to purchase an item, please be sure to send money with them on Market Day. Thank you for supporting this meaningful learning experience and encouraging our students’ creativity and entrepreneurial spirit!

HLA Talent Show – Calling All 3rd–5th Grade Stars!
Sign-ups for the HLA Talent Show are now open for students in 3rd–5th grade! Students have until April 2nd to sign up. We encourage families to support and motivate their child to participate and help create a special elementary school memory.
The Talent Show will take place on Friday, May 1st from 2:00–3:00 PM. Each participating student may invite up to two guests to attend.

We Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream! - Tuesday, March 31st
To celebrate the end of March Reading Month, we will be hosting a school-wide Ice Cream Sundae Party for students who complete their Reading Bingo cards. To make this celebration extra special, we are looking for parent volunteers to help scoop ice cream and serve toppings during the event.
