Hello HLA Families!

What an incredible week it has been, from Donuts with Dudes and our Chipotle Fundraiser to STEM Night, our HLA community continues to show up and shine! Thank you for your ongoing support and participation.

It’s officially fall, but we’re feeling extra grateful for the stretch of beautiful weather ahead this week!

Our fall benchmark assessments are now complete, and we’re diving into the data to plan differentiated instruction and provide targeted support for each student. This allows us to better understand your child as a learner and meet them right where they are.

As we move into Week 6 of the school year, we’re continuing to strengthen routines and expectations to help students thrive both academically and socially.

Read on to discover all the exciting things happening at HLA in the days ahead!

Book Room Volunteers Needed!

We’re looking for helping hands this week as we work to organize and finalize our reading materials. This is a great opportunity to volunteer alongside other parents in support of our students and staff.

When: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Whether you can stay for an hour, two, or the entire block, every bit of help makes a difference!

Thank you in advance for your time and support. Your efforts directly benefit our HLA students and teachers!

Family Engagement Evening — This Thursday, 6:00–7:00 p.m.

Don’t miss this important opportunity to connect and learn together! Bring your children and their electronic devices for an engaging, hands-on session designed to help you support your bilingual learner at home.

It’s just one hour, but it will be packed with valuable tips, activities, and family fun. We can’t wait to see you there, your support is deeply appreciated.

¡Gracias!

We can’t begin to express how grateful we are for everyone who joined us for Muffins with My Special Person and Donuts with Dudes over the past few weeks. Thank you for taking time off work and making special arrangements to be here,  your presence truly meant so much.

The smiles on our students’ faces were absolutely priceless! These events were all about bringing caring adults into our building to share a special moment and create a joyful start to the day for our students.

Parent-Teacher Conference dates are quickly approaching!

Read-at-Home starts this week!

While it may look a little different at each grade level, the goal remains the same,  to foster a love of reading beyond the classroom. Each week, students in grades K–5 will bring books home along with either:

  • a short summary sheet to complete after reading, or

  • a reading log for an adult to sign as accountability.

Please keep an eye out for these materials coming home and remind your student to read daily and complete their log or questionnaire.

Thank you for partnering with us to support reading at home! If you have any questions, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

A huge thank-you to all the families who joined us for the HPS District-wide STEM Night! It was an evening full of fun, discovery, and hands-on learning for the whole family.
