HMS' Olivia Weiss - National History Day State Finalist

Olivia will head to Central Michigan University on Friday, April 22 to present her National History Day project at the State Competition.

"By making progress now, I can make history too!"

NHD’s core program is its competition in which students in grades 6–12 choose a topic and dive deeply into the past by conducting extensive research in libraries, archives, and museums. They then present their conclusions and evidence through papers, exhibits, performances, documentaries, or websites

Olivia's History Day project covers Pianist Amy Beach:

Amy Beach was the first recognized and critically acclaimed female pianist and composer in the US in the late 1800's and early 1900's.  She was a child prodigy who used her skill and stellar career to pave the way for more recognition and opportunity for other female composers and musicians.
