Tentative Calendar for 2026-2027

This is a proposed calendar. It will be taken to the HPS Board of Education for approval in April.  While it is not approved yet, we wanted to share the highlights of the 26-27 Calendar with you before Spring Break.  

  • First Day of School:  August 27
  • Labor Day Weekend | No School: September 4-7
  • Professional Development Day | No school: October 23
  • Professional Development Day | No school: November 6
  • Thanksgiving Break: November 25-27
  • Holiday Break: December 20- January 3
  • MLK Day | No School: January 18
  • Professional Development Day | No school: February 26
  • Midwinter Break: February 26-March 1
  • Professional Development Day | No school: March 19
  • Spring Break: April 2-April 11
  • Professional Development Day | No school: April 23
  • Memorial Day | No School: May 31
  • Last Day of School: June 9

A complete calendar with early-release days and half days will be available after the Board of Education gives final approval.

HHS Students Earn Honors at Debut Art Show

Holland High School had 14 students get 16 works of art accepted into the annual Holland Area Arts Council Debut Art Show, a  juried art show for are high school students. Several HHS students received award honors at an artist reception:

  • Keoni Gainey’s colored pencil drawing titled, Red Eyed Tree Frog earned the Dennis Foley Award.
  • Harper Schoon-Tanis’ digital art titled, Deconstructed Portrait earned Honorable Mention.
  • Liz Ferral Carrilo’s digital art titled, Everybody’s Voice Matters also earned Honorable Mention.
  • Mark Jordan received an art scholarship from Olivet College.

March Safety/Security News

This month HPD Ofc. Jose Padron-Hernandez introduced the Student Problem Solvers at HLA!!!

  • Program for selected 5th graders to “patrol” the playground during lunch.
  • Teams of 2 work together and have the opportunity to resolve issues themselves. 
  • Teaches lifelong skills – communication, listening and critical thinking.
  • Creates a safe, more compassionate school climate for everyone.  

Ofc. Padron was  part of a similar program when he attended elementary school.
