April 26, 2023- Red Note

Hello HLA families! 

Our fifth graders have started with English Language Arts M-STEP testing (State testing), and will continue with Math and Science. Surely their brains are tired but we're proud of them for their efforts to do the best they can. We have many fun planned in the weeks ahead, read below and mark your calendars as we hope to see you soon. We love our kids!

What time do students arrive/perform?
3rd: Arrive at 5:40, Perform from 6:00 - 6:25PM

4th: Arrive at 6:10, perform at 6:35 - 7:00PM

5th: Arrive at 6:45, perform at 7:05PM

What does my student wear?
Bright springtime colors. Clothing must meet the school dress code, if you have questions please email me. 

Where does my student go when they arrive?
1. Enter the Performing Arts Center Lobby
2. Follow the signs with arrows to a classroom
3. Students wait in the room until brought on stage
4. Students perform, then meet their parents in the lobby next to the "Parent Pick Up Sign"

Field Day | Friday June 2nd

Once again we will are wearing our assigned colors per grade level. Should you be interested in purchasing a school shirt, click here to submit your order. Ordering closes on

HLA Talent Show | April 28 at 2:00 pm

The 3rd-5th grade Talent Show is returning to HLA on Friday, April 28! Students will perform in groups to share their talents with their classmates. New this year - each participating student can invite 1 or 2 family members to attend the show. Tickets are $2 per person. Due to available space, we are limited to 2 tickets per student. The show will also be livestreamed on the HLA Facebook page for anyone unable to attend in person. This week participating students will bring home a parent permission slip that also includes a ticket order form. If you would like to purchase tickets, please send payment (in cash) along with the signed permission form. We look forward to celebrating our students’ many talents! 

 

HLA Yoga Club | Thank you, Satya Yoga!

We want to give our sincere thanks to Teresa Van Eyk, owner of Satya Yoga in Saugatuck, for leading our winter Yoga Club! Over the course of 7 weeks, more than 130 HLA students were introduced to beginning yoga poses and breathwork through our lunchtime Yoga Club. Satya will be offering yoga for kids this summer through two instructors who specialize in children’s yoga, occupational therapy, and child development. Sessions will be on Tuesdays from June 20 to August 1 at 10:30-11:15 am (ages 5-9) and 1:30-2:15 pm (ages 9-12). Registration will soon be available on Satya’s website

KinderParade | Dutch Costume Information

HPS Students (Grades 1-5) are invited to march in the Tulip Time KinderParade on Thursday May 11. If you are planning on your child walking in the parade, they must have a costume and you must fill out this form by Monday, May 8. 

Dutch Costume Rental for $5. Come pick out a costume: 

  • Friday, May 5, 4:30-7pm
  • Saturday, May 6, 9:30am-12n

Little Mermaid The Musical | Holland High School Performing Art Center 

Come support our Holland Public School students in the production of the Little Mermaid. Opening day is Thursday, April  27th. We will have many HLA students performing! Get your tickets today. 

 

Mobile Mexican Consulate | Coming to Holland on May 2-5

The Mobile Mexican Consulate will be coming to LAUP in Holland on May 2-5. Applications to schedule an appointment will open the afternoon of Friday, April 21.
