Holland voters will see a Sinking Fund Proposal on the May 5 ballot. In addition to supporting ongoing facility repairs and improvements, the updated language in the proposal would allow the district to use these funds for transportation and maintenance vehicles. Proposal Highlights:
- No increase in the current millage rate (1.25) over the next 10 years
- Estimated revenue is approximately $2,540,000
- Expanded language will allow funding for transportation and maintenance of vehicles
- Helps maintain and protect voter-approved bond investments
- Reduces strain on the general operating budget
Every day at Escape Ministries, students who have been labeled as “failures” or “troubled youth” defy the odds to overcome family turmoil, addiction, expulsions, court sentences, deceased & incarcerated parents, and yet still somehow hang on. The Hero In Me program at Escape Ministries celebrates these heroic youth and helps the community to see beneath the surface – to peoples’ hearts and stories.
HHS is proud to have two students recognized as Hero In Me Finalists:

They both win $1000 scholarship each, and a college/career-ready backpack stuffed with a laptop and more, along with continued mentorship into their future endeavors.

HPS Students (Grades 1-5) are invited to march in the Tulip Time KinderParade on Thursday May 7. If you are planning on your child walking in the parade, they must have a costume and you must fill out this form by Monday, May 4.
We are excited to announce that enrollment is now open for the 2026 Summer Adventure Camps with the Outdoor Discovery Center! This engaging summer program is designed for students going into Kindergarten through 5th grade and will focus on literacy skills through hands-on, nature-rich experiences.
- Adventure Camp will be held at Jefferson Elementary 282 W 30th Street
- June 15-July 23
- 8:30am – 12:30pm each day (Breakfast and Lunch will be available at no cost.)
The Summer Adventure Camp with ODC is led by the Outdoor Discovery Center’s Education Network and will take the place of HPS Summer School. This is the ONLY Summer School option being offered at HPS in the summer of 2026 for K-5 students.
