Teachers Live Here - Sydney Bryer
Sydney Bryer, a Special Ed Teacher at Jefferson, is the latest recipient of a Teachers Live Here Grant! She is receiving $27,300 for down payment assistance and an additional $2,500 to help with closing costs on her new home in the HPS district.
HPS is grateful to Sydney for her commitment to her students!
All students benefit from consistency and stability, working with a special student population hits that home even harder. Many of my students have had adults come and go in their lives and have lost trust that anyone will stay. Many of my students' families have had tumultuous relationships or interactions with schools because of the more extreme challenges they may have faced before. Living here instead of renting there is another way of showing my students and their families that I intend to provide continued support and stability in the school and will be a cheerleader with them outside of the school.
Being in community with others requires the ability to connect and maintain connections, which in turn requires some form of nearness and demonstration of involvement and commitment. Receiving the Teachers Live Here grant will allow me the opportunity to do just that.
Teachers Live Here grants are possible through a generous donation from an anonymous donor and through support of the Holland Educational Foundation.
