The Power H shop is a store that opens one night each month. It allows HPS families to come and shop for clothing, school supplies, and household items - FREE of charge! All the items are donated by area agencies and organization - and families just like yours! But, our inventory is running low!

This week, Superintendent Nick Cassidy announced the details of the new Teachers Live Here program that is aimed at retaining and attracting the very best teachers to Holland Public Schools. Here is a part of that announcement.
TRAILS invites you to attend a free presentation: Suicide Awareness and Prevention for Caregivers and Communities on Tuesday, February 7, from 4:30-5:45pm (Eastern) via Zoom.
Teachers Live Here will provide $25,000 in down payment assistance to Holland Public Schools teachers. An anonymous donor in the City of Holland will help HPS retain and recruit the best educators to the district.

CultureWorks Transformative Art + Design Academy is a Holland, MI-based, faith inspired nonprofit offering culturally relevant, transformative art and design experiences to youth from all backgrounds. They provide a nurturing environment where professional teaching artists and designers work with middle and high school students from all backgrounds to inspire curiosity, develop talent, and build 21st century skills.
COVID isn't over quite yet! This week, we hear about a program with the Holland Hospital School Nurses that is helping keep families healthy as we deal with COVID along with RSV and Flu all at the same time.

OCSN (Ottawa Community Schools Network), in partnership with Feeding America West Michigan, will host a mobile food pantry event ON NOVEMBER 14 at Holland High School to provide food for those in need.

Join in supporting the 6th annual Love & Lean walk/run taking place April 23. This year includes a 5K run, 5K walk, and 1 mile walk option. Funds raised will benefit the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan and will be used for continuing education related to mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital is inviting students in 3rd through 8th grade who live in Allegan or Ottawa County to participate in a virtual art contest. The Holland Area Arts Council is having some super fun art camps this summer for elementary and middle school friends! The camps cover everything from drawing to jewelry to painting! They are offering a variety of camps for all ages and there are scholarships available if needed. All camps will be carried out in a COVID-safe manner. The Mighty Mitten Splash & Dash is a new and exciting USA Triathlon sanctioned swim-run event for both kids and adults on Saturday, April 24.
This year all of the HPS PTO’s are joining together to support our K-8 students and their enthusiasm for reading.
This is our ONE AND ONLY fundraiser for the 2020-2021 school year. Please help us make it a success!
The Holland Youth Advisory Council (HYAC) held a book drive to benefit the students of Jefferson. Tuesday, they dropped off over 900 gently used books! Some books will go in the school library, some will go in classroom libraries, and some books will be given to the students at Jefferson to take home and add to their home library!

Registration for the Fifth Annual Ottawa County Diversity Forum is open until October 16. The forum, to be held virtually this year, is scheduled for October 20 from 8:15AM to 3PM. The online forum is limited to the first 300 registrants and the cost is $25.

Over the pandemic our greenhouse got an upgrade with the addition of a paved walkway leading up to it. The Art and STEM departments are offering the community a chance to have one of those pavers dedicated to a person or family.
For a suggested donation of $20 an Art student will paint the name (3 word limit) and a design on one of the pavers in honor of whomever you choose. Deadline to sign up this Friday!
All proceeds go to support the Art and STEM departments at HMS.
