The Dutch Swim and Dive State Team of James Baer, Emmett Book, Trent Burgess, Victor Cassar, Harper Prutch and Simon VanHuistravelled to Oakland University this past weekend for the division 3 State Championships.
The Medley Relay Team of Prutch (backstroke), VanHuis (breaststroke), Baer (butterfly) and Cassar (freestyle) placed 6th in Saturdays finals.
James Baer took 7th place in the 50 free and 2nd place in the 100 butterfly. He set a new school record in the 100 fly at Friday preliminaries with a time of 50.66 seconds.
VanHuis placed 5th in the 100 free and 7th in breaststroke.
Baer, Cassar, Book and VanHuis placed 7th in the 200 free relay. In the 400 free relay, Cassar, Burgess, Prutch and Book placed 16th.
In the last two years, three students from Holland High have earned the MHSAA Scholar Athlete Award - no other school in the state can say that! This week, we introduce you to the latest winner of this statewide award - James Baer.
