Preparing for Prom

Prom is Friday April 23, 8-11pm at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.

We look forward to a safe and fun event for our students on Friday.

As we prepare to host the Holland High School Prom at the Grand Rapids Public Museum on Friday night, we are in contact with the Grand Rapids Police Department to make sure we are doing all we can to make the night safe for our students.

For the past several days, citizens have gathered in the streets of downtown Grand Rapids to protest the killing of Patrick Lyoya. To date, the marches have all been very peaceful.

Per our regular practice as we lead up to Prom, school staff members are in daily contact with the Grand Rapids Public Museum to ensure that our school event on Friday is safe and secure. Our standard protocols for school dances will apply on Friday night in an effort to make sure the students who attend the dance are doing so in a secure environment:

  • Only students and guests with tickets will be permitted to enter the dance.
  • Students will not be allowed to leave and re-enter the dance.
  • If students choose to ride the school bus to Prom, they must also ride the bus back to Holland at the end of Prom.  If you would like to reserve a seat on the bus, please contact Mrs. LeFebre at slefebre@hollandpublicschools.org.
  • If an unauthorized student or guest is found to have entered the dance, he/she will be subject to school discipline and/or law enforcement intervention.

If students plan to eat at a restaurant before attending Prom, please consider dining at a restaurant outside the downtown Grand Rapids area.  Students who transport themselves to/from the dance will have the ability to park in the ramp directly across from the Museum.

We look forward to a safe and fun event for our students on Friday.  Thank you to everyone who helped make Prom 2022 a reality for our students.
