HMS and Community Partners team up to equip student with racing wheelchair.

A new wheelchair will open a world of opportunity for Jordan.

Over the last 100 days, HMS students and staff have participated in the 100 mile challenge, with the goal of walking or running 100 miles in as many days.   A group of students would meet up to put in a mile at least once a week on the track during lunch.

One of our students, Jordan Dykstra, pushed these miles in a wheelchair.

As Jordan's grit and desire to race and compete became obvious, staff and students at HMS made contacts with the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA) and  Central Wesleyan Church, one of our many community partners,  to equip Jordan with a racing chair that will get him off of the sidelines and allow him to compete.    While the chair didn't arrive in time for track season, we are confident that this chair will open up a world of opportunities for Jordan as he will now be able to enter competitions.
