November PBIS Newsletter

The latest from the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support team

Celebrations!

In the month of October we celebrated our students commitment to following the new Covid procedures. We have been blown away by our students positivity and flexibility during this time of change. We recognized them by delivering cider and donuts to their first hour class and at lunch for our Davenport and Tech Center students.

Thank you to all of the students and parents/guardians who completed the School Climate and Culture Survey. The Positive Behavior Intervention and Support team also known as the PBIS team uses this data to identify what is going well and identify the areas we need to improve.

What is the School Climate and Culture Survey?

This is a short 10 minute survey that is designed to help schools get a better understanding of how students, parents/guardians, and staff members view the relationships, support and safety of the school environment.

When do we take this survey?

The survey is administered twice a year. Once in the fall and and again in the spring. Who takes the survey? The goal is to get feedback from all students, families, and staff members.

How is the survey information used?

The survey information is used to help guide decisions made throughout the school year.

Let's Look at the Numbers!

Survey Participation:

Thank you to the 95 families that participated in the fall survey. This number is up from last year!

Thank you to the 461 students that participated in the fall survey. We saw a decline in student participation this fall.

Survey Results:

On a 4 point scale, the highest rated categories from families were Teaching & Learning (3.49) and Instructional Environments (3.57)! The lowest rated categories were Parent Involvement (3.43) and Interpersonal Relationships (3.39)

Based on the student survey results, students reported that they feel respected by teachers (3.31) and behaviors in class allow teachers to teach (3.15)! The lowest rated question related to student recognition for good behavior (2.47).

What's Next?

The PBIS team will review this information and talk about next steps to help improve in the area of parent involvement and student recognition!
