Become an Outdoor Explorer with Ottawa County Parks

The Outdoor Explorer Program provides fun recreational opportunities throughout the park system for children between the ages of 4-14.

Greetings from Ottawa County Parks.

The Ottawa County Parks Nature Center staff developed an after school program to provide fun, recreational opportunities throughout the park system for children between the ages of 9-14 years old.  Children can participate in scheduled outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and kayaking with Ottawa County Naturalist Guides from 3-5 PM on specific days.

There are also younger kids programs geared specifically for children who are doing virtual/remote learning and need an opportunity to get outside during the day.  These programs, for kids 4-8 years old, engage children in activities that encourage movement and provide opportunities to explore different parks with Naturalist Guides.

We would love to get the word out to families in your district. If you’re sending out any email communications related to school please feel free to include the attached e-flier with our short link: https://bit.ly/parks-kids

We are in the process of having the fliers translated into Spanish and will email them to you as soon as possible.

For any program questions, feel free to contact me at khintz@miottawa.org.  If you need another size or file type of the flier, please contact our communications specialist, Jessica VanGinhoven, at jvanginhoven@miottawa.org
