Shelly Blystra's Classroom
Shelly Blystra is a 2nd grade teacher at Holland Heights Elementary. She is a 26-year veteran teacher in the district. She teaches in the same classroom where she went to school as a 2nd grade student herself.
No significant improvements have been made to the classroom spaces at Holland Heights since it was built in 1952. The same is true for West Elementary; a building designed in 1977 as a Middle School. And in other HPS facilities, important infrastructure projects on the district’s master plan remain unfinished.
The Build 2021 bond proposal would allow the district to:
- Make significant investments into programs for our K-5 students including construction of new instructional space at Holland Heights & West Elementary.
- Complete unfinished renovations and infrastructure improvements at all HPS facilities as identified in the district master plan.
- Address Health & Safety measures in each of the district’s buildings.
- Upgrade instructional technology.
Holland Middle School was named one of just 419 schools in Michigan as a Green School by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Environment (EGLE).
