Sports

Women’s Volleyball: Holland High competed in the Tulip City Tri on Saturday. The Lady Dutch lost to West Ottawa  25-23, 25-21, and 25-18. Then, the team  went on to play Holland Christan and took the first game but lost the next three. The scores were W: 25-23, L: 25-17, L: 25-13 and L: 25-17. Holland played together as a team and worked hard!

Men’s Tennis: On Saturday, the Dutch hosted their final quad of the season. In a tightly contested tournament, Holland would finish in 4th place. Zeeland West won the team trophy with only 5 more points than the Dutch. Holland had two flight champions in Sean Ruhf at #2 singles and Cristian Castro at #3 singles. Both players went 3-0 on the day. Finishing as runner-up was Neil VanFaasen at #1 singles and then the #4 doubles team of Alex Marko and Micah Babinski also were flight finalists. "This was a very evenly matched tournament today with four great teams," said Holland coach Kyle Kreps. "It's hard to have a tournament with a tighter race for first and also to see so many close matches. This was a good taste for us of what to expect at next week's conference tournament". Holland will host regional opponent Allegan on Monday in preparation for October 3rd's conference tournament.

Men’s Soccer: Holland traveled to Grand Rapids Union on Saturday and escaped Houseman Field with a 2-1 win. Abraham Arellano had a goal and an assist, and Levi Honderd also scored a goal. "Grand Rapids Union was a quick, skilled team that played with passion," said Holland coach Greg Ceithaml. "It took our team a while to adjust to the speed of the game. Union is the best team we've played this season, and we are happy to come away with a win." Holland is now 9-0 and has secured the #1 seed in the upcoming O.K. Green conference tournament. Holland travels to Forest Hills Northern for a tough non-conference challenge on Monday. Holland JV is now 8-0 after beating GR Union 3-0.
