Sinking Fund Proposal on the May 5 Ballot

Holland voters will see a Sinking Fund Proposal on the May 5 ballot. In addition to supporting ongoing facility repairs and improvements, the updated language in the proposal would allow the district to use these funds for transportation and maintenance vehicles. Proposal Highlights:

  • No increase in the current millage rate (1.25) over the next 10 years
  • Estimated revenue is approximately $2,540,000
  • Expanded language will allow funding for transportation and maintenance of vehicles

Nurse Notes - April

It's Allergy Season

Michigan’s spring allergy season typically runs from late March to June. The culprit is tree pollen, especially oak, birch and maple. The peak times are April through May.  Windy days increase pollen. Rainy days decrease pollen but may increase mold levels. Symptoms can include sneezing, congestion, postnasal drip, itchy/sore throat, red/watery eyes.

Management tips:

  • Check counts: Monitor daily pollen counts and stay indoors when pollen counts are high and when there are windy days.
  • Reduce Exposure: Keep windows closed, Shower after coming indoors and wash clothes promptly
  • Treatment: Consult your doctor. Options may include over-the-counter antihistamines and/or allergy-rated air filters.
