Luke Rund-Scott converted a penalty kick and assisted Pike Fletter. Defenders Asher Folkert, Sawyer DeWitt, Gael Garcia, Greydon Prince, and Simeon Carter helped goalie Simon Ozimek earn the shutout. "We played well today," said Holland coach Greg Ceithaml. "We needed a great effort from our players to overcome such good competition. It was very encouraging to see so many of our players playing at such a high level." In JV action, the Holland JV beat Plainwell 4-0 and tied Battle Creak Lakeview 1-1. On Monday night, the Holland varsity soccer team traveled to Zeeland West and beat the Dux 4-0. Luke Rund-Scott gave Holland the lead in the second half on an assist from Andi Andres. In the second half, Los Dutch broke open the score with three goals in three minutes. It started with a goal by Jovanny Carrillo from a cross by Pike Fletter. Fletter then added a goal himself by deflecting his shot off a Zeeland West defender and into the net. Hector Garcia capped the scoring with a long-range shot. The Holland defense helped goalies Simon Ozimek and Landon Van Ingen share the shutout, the 4th in a row for Los Dutch. "Zeeland West is an excellent team, and the score is misleading," said Holland coach Greg Ceithaml. "It was a very close match. We had some strong finishing in the second half, but both teams showed skill and determination." Holland is now 4-0-1. In JV action, Holland JV defeated Zeeland West 6-0.

Word of the Day
Tilde refers to the mark ~ placed especially over the letter n (as in the Spanish señor, meaning "sir") to denote the sound \nʸ\, or over vowels (as in the Portuguese irmã, meaning "sister") to indicate nasality. When a tilde appears as an independent character, it usually means "approximately" (as in "we'll be there in ~ 30 minutes").
A familiar example of the tilde appears in the name of the Brazilian city São Paulo.
