Women's Soccer: On Monday night, Holland traveled to Zeeland West and lost 4-1. After the Dux scored, Holland tied it at 1-1 when Emma Margaron converted a penalty kick. Unfortunately, Holland conceded two more goals in the first half and one goal in the second half without scoring, which led to the 4-1 final score. "Zeeland West was athletic," said Holland coach Greg Ceithaml. "We worked hard, but could not keep pace." Holland finished their regular season 5-13. In JV action, Holland JV lost to Zeeland West 3-0.
Baseball: The Holland Dutch hosted the Spring Lake Lakers on Monday for Senior Night, but dropped both games 3-13 and 2-4. The Lakers took advantage of miscues and extra bases by the Dutch, who were unable to score enough to make up the difference. In game one, four Seniors had hits, with three recording multiple hits. Abel Walkotten was 3-3 with an HBP, Gabe Bos was 2-4 with a run scored, Peyton Lehman was 2-3 with a run scored, and Jacob Torres was 1-4 with an RBI. Sophomore Asher Folkert was also 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored. On the mound, Bos started for the Dutch, going three and a third allowing seven earned runs on nine hits and five walks. He struck out four in his shortest outing of the season. Junior Tanner Kingery went two and two-thirds allowing three unearned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three. Junior Damien Arispe rounded off the game, pitching the seventh allowing one unearned run on one hit and two walks. Game two was a much better game for the Dutch. After the Lakers quickly took advantage of some extra throws from the Dutch to take a four-run lead in the third, the Dutch shut them out for the remainder of the game. At the plate, three Seniors accounted for three of the four Dutch hits for the game - Peyton Lehman and Ryland Vanderploeg each went 1-3 with an RBI, and Robbie Wiersma went 1-3 as well. Junior Tanner Kingery reached base each time in game two, going 1-1 with two walks and a run scored. Senior Abel Walkotten reached base twice on a walk and an HBP and also scored a run. Senior Cody Rozema had another efficient outing, going the distance for the Dutch. He allowed four earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three in his complete game effort. The Dutch fell to 6-19 and are 1-16 in the OK Black. They visit Spring Lake on Thursday to complete the conference series.
