“I send my own kids here through school of choice because we love the diversity on multiple levels, not just ethnicity and race, but recognizing that each child has their unique lived experiences, backgrounds, and abilities that contribute to the Holland Public community. “

Dr. Anna Clawson, Holland Public Schools’ Assistant Director of Student Services.

I chose Holland Public because of the diversity.

As the world has changed, Holland Public Schools has evolved to meet the shifting needs of our students. We work diligently to maintain good communication with colleges and businesses, so we know what they're looking for in our graduates. From Careerline Tech Center to Holland Early College, we have so many different opportunities to meet students' needs. We understand there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to high school education. It's based on what they want to do and the educational plan they develop. We are here to guide them down whatever path they choose.

I know this first-hand because I’m a Holland High grad and now my children attend HPS. This district fueled my passion to learn. After graduating from Hope College, I earned a master’s in social work from Western Michigan University. While at Holland Public, I was inspired to return to WMU for my educational leadership MSW and doctorate. I made that commitment to growing my expertise so I could better meet the needs of the district’s students.

Holland believes that each student has unique lived experiences that contribute to a child’s identity, expression, and beliefs. I send my own kids here through school of choice because we love the diversity on multiple levels, not just ethnicity and race, but recognizing that each child has their unique lived experiences, backgrounds, and abilities that contribute to the Holland Public community.

The district’s range of programs not only meets the needs of my daughter and son, but it offers them a variety of choices in both coursework and extracurricular activities. Both have taken (and are taking) different pathways based on their interests. The teachers and staff make sure their academic needs are met while encouraging them to reach their full potential. That has been amazing to watch as a parent and an educator.
