March is Reading Month Read-A-Thon Fundraiser!

This year all of the HPS PTO’s are joining together to support our K-8 students and their enthusiasm for reading.

This is our ONE AND ONLY fundraiser for the 2020-2021 school year.  Please help us make it a success!

When your family participates in Read-A-Thon, you support your child to grow in their motivation and stamina as a reader.  You also support PTO to earn money for all of the activities we are looking forward to resuming in the 2021-2022 school year.

For local businesses or community members to donate:

Please go to www.read-a-thon.com/donate and enter the code for the specific school (see below). All the funds raised are going to the HPS District PTO, irrespective of the school you donate to. Funds will be used for: Classroom cash for teachers, field trips, staff appreciation, assemblies and other district-wide events.

Reader Page Creation Information:

Each school has its own link where students can go to create their reader pages. This is where the students/parents can log reading minutes for their students and where people can donate.

Elementary School incentives:

  • The class with the most total minutes read will receive a trophy.
  • The top reader in each class will receive a $5 gift card to either The Peanut Store or Captain Sundae.
  • The class that raises the most money will also receive a reward. This reward will be decided in conjunction with the Principal and winning teacher at each separate school.
  • Each child will receive a small gift for creating their reader page. This will vary based on school.

Middle School incentives:

  • The class with the most "Reading March Madness Month Activity Points" for each grade wins donuts.
  • The top readers will be placed in a raffle for the chance to win a $25 Amazon Gift Card (two available).
  • The top two fundraisers will each receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card.

Successful fundraising in years past enabled PTO to meet the unique challenges of this school year by supporting our teachers and students with playground equipment, document cameras, news magazines, books, classroom supplies, teacher and staff appreciation events and more!

We are optimistic that next school year will bring a return to many of the other events PTO helps sponsor throughout the year: Field trips, assemblies, classroom supplies, teacher appreciation, and special events for our students, teachers, and school communities.  Your participation in the Read-A-Thon fundraiser will help make next school year a success!

Look for more information coming home in early March with details about how you can participate.  We promise- it will be easy! There may even be some prizes that can be won along the way!!

Thank you for supporting PTO and the students, teachers, and families of HPS!
