Return to Learn Plan for Music Department

Covid-19 is forcing significant changes for Holland's Music Department.

ELEMENTARY MUSIC:

You MUST choose the in-person learning option in order for your student to have any specials (art/music/PE).

We are looking for donations for instrument kits! If you have any of the following you are willing to donate please drop them off at Holland West Elementary School by August 17:

  • Gallon ziploc bags
  • Quart ziploc bags
  • Coffee cans or similarly sized plastic containers with lid
  • Plastic Easter eggs
  • Tulle material
  • Empty pill bottles (please remove label)
  • Dowel rods
  • Craft beads
  • Poker chips/bingo chips/buttons
  • 3x5 index cards
  • New sandpaper
  • Stickers

If you do not have any of the above physical items but would still like to contribute, please consider purchasing something from our Amazon wish list: Elementary Wish List

At this time, 6th GRADE BAND and orchestra will be an Introduction to Music course this year.

 

7th & 8th GRADE BAND:

You MUST choose the in-person learning option in order for your student to participate in band or any other performing arts course first semester.

Make sure you have your instrument with you on the days in your schedule that you have band class.

Students MUST be wearing a mask when not playing their instrument (playing will take place outdoors only until further notice-please dress appropriately for the weather).

With marching band being considered “extra-curricular,” if you are an 8th grade band student who has ALREADY joined the HHS Marching Band, regardless of whether you choose online or in-person instruction, you are allowed to participate.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR:

You MUST choose the in-person learning option in order for your student to participate in choir or any other performing arts course first semester.

We WILL wear a mask 100% of the time in class, no matter what.

If/When we are singing:

  • Weather permitting, we will rehearse outside - please dress appropriately for the weather.
  • If outside is not an option, we will rehearse in the largest space available to adhere to social distancing.

Students are asked to provide their own PENCIL and FOLDER for Choir Class.

7th & 8th GRADE ORCHESTRA:

You MUST choose the in-person learning option in order for your student to participate in orchestra or any other performing arts course first semester.

Make sure you have your instrument with you on the days in your schedule that you have orchestra.

Students MUST be wearing a mask when playing their instrument (playing will take place indoors).

Students are asked to provide their own TUNER and PENCIL for Orchestra Class as students will not be able share a tuner. See Meyer Music for recommendations.

HIGH SCHOOL BAND:

You MUST choose the in-person learning option in order for your student to participate in band or any other performing arts course during the school day for first semester.

Make sure you have your instrument with you on the days in your schedule that you have band class.

Students MUST be wearing a mask when not playing their instrument (playing will take place outdoors only until further notice-please dress appropriately for the weather).
