2026-27 Student Registration

As we prepare for the start of the next school year, it's time to register your student for 2026-27. This is something we ask ALL current HPS families to do EVERY year. Completing the registration lets us know:

Your student(s) will be returning next year!
Your household contact information is up to date
Your student health information is up to date
if you are requesting transportation for the 2026-2027 school year (Deadline to request bussing is August 1.)

Without this information, your student can not be added to a class list for next year OR have a class schedule created for them.

Update about Safety and Holland Middle School

At Holland Middle School our first goal each day is to provide students and staff with a safe learning environment. Yesterday afternoon, a digital message that included a potential threat against the school was reported to building administrators.

Administrators immediately identified Holland Public Safety and our School Resource Officer started an investigation. After interviewing several students and family members, he determined there were no credible threats. Unfortunately, rumors of this message had already started to spread.

We take all threats very seriously and will work with Holland Public Safety to hold individuals who deliberately disrupt our learning environment accountable.

Social Emotional Learning Survey - Spring 2026

As part of our district’s ongoing efforts to create a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment for all students, your child will be invited to take a Social Emotional Learning Survey April 27-May 8.

The results of the survey will help our staff strengthen programs and support that increase our learner’s awareness and competency with social emotional skills.
Results of the survey will be published in late May on the district website.

HHS Students Earn Honors at Debut Art Show

Holland High School had 14 students get 16 works of art accepted into the annual Holland Area Arts Council Debut Art Show, a juried art show for are high school students. Several HHS students received award honors at an artist reception:

Keoni Gainey’s colored pencil drawing titled, Red Eyed Tree Frog earned the Dennis Foley Award.
Harper Schoon-Tanis’ digital art titled, Deconstructed Portrait earned Honorable Mention.
Liz Ferral Carrilo’s digital art titled, Everybody’s Voice Matters also earned Honorable Mention.
Mark Jordan received an art scholarship from Olivet College.

Maggie Telgenhof Awarded MHSAA Scholar Athlete Award

The Michigan High School Athletic Association has selected HHS Senior Maggie Telgenhof among 14 student-athletes from Class A member schools to receive scholarships through the MHSAA/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award program.

HHS Students Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Program

Each year, 1.5 million students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT.

Wilson Lin was named a Semifinalist in the competition! This is an incredible honor, recognizing you among the top 1% of high school students in the country. The program offers three types of awards: the National Merit $2,500 Scholarship, corporate-sponsored scholarships, and college-sponsored scholarships, awarded to about 7,880 students annually.
Emma Deenik has been recognized as a Commended Student. Only 34,000 students nationwide earn this recognition, placing them among the top 50,000 high scorers. While Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, this honor highlights students’ outstanding academic achievement and potential for continued academic success.

Kooyer Wins National Grant for Summer Fellowship

Joy Kooyer (3rd Grade at West Elementary) has been awarded $5000 for self-designed professional development!

Fund for Teachers, one of the nation's leading organizations supporting preK-12 educators, has announced its 2025 grant recipients, including Mrs. Kooyer. After a rigorous review process, her proposal was selected and she was awarded a grant to visit the setting of "Number the Stars" - her favorite book for 3rd Grade readers.
