Meet Ms. Stephan
LeeAnn Stephan has been the principal at Jefferson since August of 2018. LeeAnn grew up in Traverse City (different city, same Great Lake). She went to Michigan State University and earned her Elementary and K-12 Special Education teaching certification. She obtained her M.Ed. from Grand Valley State University in Educational Leadership. She is currently enrolled in an Ed. Specialist program through Central Michigan.
She began her teaching career as a Special Education teacher. She taught for five years in the Detroit metro area before moving to Harbor Springs. After ten years of teaching special education, LeeAnn accepted her first job as an Elementary Principal in Benzie Central Schools. In 2018 she moved to Holland to work for Holland Public Schools.
LeeAnn enjoys looking for creative ways to solve problems, and looks at long-term solutions. She is passionate about integrating mental health and positive behavioral supports into the school environment. She loves working with students and getting to know them as individuals.
LeeAnn lives in Holland (within 2 miles of work). In her spare time, LeeAnn enjoys traveling to new places. She believes that you learn a lot about other cultures and people by stepping out of your comfort zone and going into new settings. She has had the privilege to travel to Central America, Asia and Europe. She enjoys live sporting events and attending musicals and plays.
