Enrollment Information

We look forward to meeting your family and thank you for the opportunity to educate your child(ren). We know that you will be pleased with our experienced staff and high learning expectations. Parents are an important part of a child's learning experience--we encourage you to become actively involved in your neighborhood school.

KINDERGARTEN or ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ENROLLMENT

Children must be 5-years-old by September 1, 2020 to attend kindergarten during the 2020-21 school year. Elementary School student assignments are based on home addresses. Attendance Boundary Map for Prek-5

To enroll a child you will need:

  • Proof of address. (Please bring a current bill, lease agreement or license that shows your current address.)
  • Photo ID of parent or guardian enrolling the student.
  • A copy of student's birth certificate
  • Immunization records
  • Complete name and address of previous school and phone number if applicable

Kindergarten Screening

Our Kindergarten Screening Process helps us make sure we’re connecting with every student’s unique learning needs. We schedule individualized screening appointments for youngsters and parents on specific dates in May. The results provide an evaluation resource for parents and teachers to review prior to finalizing the decision about program and class placement. Parents are asked to call 494-2100 to set up a time for their kindergartner.

If you would like to share your child's unique learning style with the building principal prior to the classroom assignments please fill out the appropriate form below. Please turn in the form no later than May 1. Student Learner Profile

Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP

Holland Public Schools enrolls children in the Great Start Readiness Program. To be eligible your child must be 4 years of age on or before September 1st of the program year attending, and the family must meet income eligibility and/or risk factors established by the State.  Please download the GSRP application. (English GSRP application)  (Spanish GSRP application) Fill out this form and return it to the District Administration Building at 320 W. 24th Street to begin the enrollment process. 

Kindergarten Waiver Information

The kindergarten age requirement is that students must be 5 by September 1, 2019, to enroll for kindergarten. If your resident student turns 5 by December 1, 2019, you may be eligible for a Kindergarten Waiver (K-Waiver English) (K-Waiver Spanish). Please contact your school of enrollment for additional information.

HIGH SCHOOL or MIDDLE SCHOOL ENROLLMENT

To enroll a child at the High School or Middle School you will need:

  • $20.00 Learning Resources Fee
  • Complete name and address of previous school and phone number

On the campus of Holland High School in partnership with Davenport University. Students take all classes in a largely project-based, technology-driven learning model while enrolled at Davenport University working toward the completion of an Associate's Degree or up to 62 transferable credits.

NON-RESIDENT ENROLLMENT

Non-Resident Enrollment-Open Enrollment Period for Schools of Choice 2019-2020 is closed for Fall 2019

Holland Public Schools participates in the state's 105(c) non-resident enrollment program under the State School Aid Act [MCL 388.1705 and 388.1705c]. This allows parents who reside outside of the Holland Public Schools attendance boundaries to choose an HPS school for their child(ren) from the Ottawa, Allegan, Kent and Muskegon Intermediate School Districts. 
 
All applications must be filled out completely and faxed or dropped off to our pupil accounting office at the District Administration Building or faxed at 616-392-8225. Non-Resident School of Choice Application

INTERNAL TRANSFERS

The window for internal transfers for the 2019-2020 school year was open March 18-29, 2019.

Families who would like to send their child(ren) to a different elementary school other than their neighborhood school may fill out an internal transfer request. Requests may not be made outside of this open enrollment internal transfer window. 

Requests will be honored based on space and availability in the school requested. Parents who transfer their students out of their neighborhood school are responsible for bringing their children to and from school.

Once approved, internal transfer students will be grandfathered into the requested school.

Do you live in any of the following situations?

  • In a shelter
  • In a motel or campground due to lack of an alternative adequate accommodation
  • In a car, park, abandoned building, bus, or train station
  • Doubled up with people due to loss of housing or economic hardship

If so, you may qualify for certain rights and protections under the federal McKinney-Vento Act.
