My name is Gary Vosburg and I have the wonder-filled challenge of facilitating the thinking and learning skills of the 6th, 7th and 8th graders who have been identified for services in the Holland Public Schools Gifted & Talented Program.
As an undergraduate at The University of Michigan, -- GOBLUE! -- I began as a pre-med student. The study of psychology captured my attention along the way, however, and with one thing leading to another I graduated with a major in developmental psychology and a minor in radio, tv and theater, and certification as an elementary teacher. Later I earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University. In addition to the formal aspects of my training, there has always been an interest and desire to understand and better support those uniquely bright students with whom I have had the pleasure to work. So, I have participated in many, many classes, seminars, workshops and conferences on gifted learners and strategies to help them excel.
Over the span of my career as a professional educator, I have enjoyed and been challenged by a wide variety of opportunities. From teaching students in Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades, to directing elementary and high school theater troupes, to threes years as a principal, to a Fulbright Teacher Exchange in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, I have constantly sought to help each child I work with come to realize at least a bit more of his or her individual potential.
During the course of one of my U of M Education School classes I was reading some works by some early educators and I came across the following quote. It has driven much of what I have chosen to do as an educator.

but lead them to it by what amuses their minds
