Hello, West families! I am Mrs. Pratley and I teach 6th and 7th grade English Language Arts. My husband and I, along with our three children, are so happy to be part of so many exciting things happening at HPS!
This will be my 16th year teaching English. I am from Waterford, MI, where I graduated from Waterford Kettering High School. I did my undergraduate work at Adrian College where I earned a B.A. in English, Biology, and Secondary Education. I also have my M.Ed. through The University of Phoenix.
My family is very active in sports. I played softball in college and have coached since I began teaching. My husband is the head football coach at Holland High, and our kids are all active in various sports as well. In addition to sports, I love to read and listen to all kinds of music. I like to play music in class, so if you have school-appropriate suggestions, let me know!
I also spend a lot of time researching ways to make our classroom the best it can be, looking for ways to improve teaching and learning, and finding new ways to engage students and families. I look forward to working with our West families this year. Please contact me if you have questions or concerns. I'm always happy to help!
