Weds. Jan. 25, 2012

Was anyone able to see the Northern Lights last night?  Too cloudy for me.  Please check for missing assignments.  This is the first week of the new semester and some kids are already falling behind.  It is really important to keep up on work as it becomes overwhelming when they get too far behind.

6th grade:

WOD:  Soil

Today we observed our volcano model from yesterday.  We identified ways in which the volcano destroyed the land as well as ways it built up or benefited the land.  We graded page 14 in the science journal (this was done yesterday in class).  Students were then put into groups of two.  Each group was assigned a destructive force that would change a mountain.  Students brainstormed ways this force could change the landscape.  Students will create a poster that illustrates this force.  We will research in the lab tomorrow for more information.
